Judging by your e-Amuse post I assume you fully understand how it works, AceJay.  e-AMUSEMENT is not currently supported for DDR in the United States.  Please do not ask questions you know the answer to for the sake of being controversial.

Convince Betson to run an E-Amusement server and manufacture the hardware to connect to it.

Not to start a mob, but...

Being controversial in the face of absolute unfairness seems to be the best way to deal with a bunch of jerks who won't answer any e-mails about anything they're doing wrong, let alone even listen to Konami.

It wouldn't be HALF as bad if it was just missing Extra/Encore songs like in SN1. But this is half the entire game here, half of what anyone's paying for to upgrade their old machines is being thrown to songs that can't even be touched whatsoever.

That's understandable.  It is just unnecessary for the same user to make multiple threads about the same topic, especially when one of them is blatantly sarcastic.  I'm not trying to say that e-AMUSEMENT is a taboo subject, however.

It would be more appropriate to make your opinions on e-AMUSEMENT known in this thread

^ Um... no shut up.

You NEED e-amuse, how will you ever keep track of scores, and all your stats... and your accomplishments?

I got to Devil foot (Level 35) on SuperNOVA 2 before the upgrade was taken away.

Wow, telling someone to shut up, such maturity.

"how will you ever keep track of scores" - heard of a pen and paper? Maybe a camera?

"and all your stats".....stats? ......Like scores?

"and your accomplishments"............like SCORES?

We're all proud of you for getting to Devil foot 35, I hope it makes your e-wang that much bigger, because nobody else cares except for you.

Scorekeeping is ruining the DDR community, just like it ruined the ITG community. The fun is being sucked out of the game. Who cares about ratings and crap, just play the game and have fun. Accomplishments are fine and all but yeesh, eAmuse stuff got crazy elitist and competitive in Japan this year with SN2.

But a system like e-amuse is more than just score keeping. If only there were more American companies that actually understood why the arcade scene is dying in America and then understood how to fix it. One of the obvious answers would be e-amuse.

Consoles are dominating the market for so many reasons that arcade games are not adapting to or utilizing in their gameplay. A very simple step in the right direction is having online systems like e-amuse in arcades across the world. A system that allows you to track all your scores, unlocks, goals and progression through every arcade game that uses e-amuse. Do you think the Playstation Network and Xbox Live are just mistakes or minor additions to your console gaming experience? Why is Sony spending so much money and time into Home (whenever that is finally released). Ever notice that little option on Xbox Live that let's you pick what type of gamer you are, be it a "Pro" or just a "Casual" gamer. There's room for everyone to enjoy e-amuse and gives gamers that much more of a reason to go back to the arcade another day.

How is it that some arcade companies have made attempts to have online play in America (Raw Thrills for example with Big Buck Hunter Pro, which has a wireless card installed in the cabinet for tournament play, prizes and even uses a card save option). Other companies like Namco and Sega have made efforts too. Tekken 5 had player cards to store data and allowed the use of Playstation controllers on the dedicated arcade cabinets. Initial D and Maximum Tunes used player cards to save data, upgrade your cars and save stats. Then there are none card options such as Raw Thrills' Fast and Furious games (2 car and 1 bike series) and even older titles like Rush 2049 or Cruis'n Exotica used keypads to store gamer information on that cabinet. Heck, even DDR had PS1 memory cards for storing data and uploading edit files on pre-SN cabinets. And ITG had it almost perfect with the USB drive and user friendly options.

Why must SuperNova be a sub-par release of DDR? Now is the time to show us the future of arcade gaming! Show us what you can do Konami and Betson! Your loyal fans have supported you and brought a new life to DDR in America and around the world. One could say that you "owe" the fans, but I say you can both reward the fans and make a smart business decision at the same time. Think about it.

Consoles are 'dominating the market' because in the end they're cheaper for the end user, allow more versatility, and don't force you to go out of your house to play your games. They also don't require a 20,000 dollar investment (in some cases) for people to be able to play a game.

What nobody here seems to realize is that most arcade owners don't -want- the hassle and costs of having a constant internet connection running 24/7 and the added hardware, software, routers, etc to go with it. Most arcade owners still have their techs fix problems using bubble gum and old coat hangers. The cheaper solution is always the better one in the eyes of arcade owners and unless you can hand an owner a 100% guarentee that this one game that requires special interwebs and all that will pay for it 100% every month Above and beyond what they'd make out of that one game without it, then it just doesn't make SENSE for owners to even WANT eamuse.

What little I've seen about eamuse online is that it's only supported by 4 bemani games right now? Correct me please if I'm wrong. That sure isn't a huge selling point for arcade owners, especially since most don't consider iidx a worthwhile game to have based on the space it takes up. Gold's not even available for NA now anyway, right? So I can see if like, Konami and Capcom and half a dozen different game companies got together and decided to have this one massive online thing for all arcade games from now till forever, then it'd be worth it. But for 4 games, from just one company, it doesn't reallllly make much sense, business-wise.

"As for other Bemani news as it relates to the states, there is nothing to report."

In Japan e-amuse is supported by more than Bemani games. They have a bunch. Over here it will be just SN2. I don't think that makes it not worth it though. Right now we want it only for Supernova 2 anyway. Imagine if you had the choice between a $2500 SN2 kit with 33 songs and a $3100 kit with all of the e-amuse features? That's a high estimate that includes monthly fees, but the second one is definitely better for most locations. Getting multiple Konami games connected for the same fee would be a bonus.

To the anti-score people: let me ask you something. Would you play Initial D without a save card? Obviously we don't play our DDR home versions without saving. So why play the arcade games that way? It has nothing to do with score tracking or having an e-wang. People being serious about their scores is not ruining DDR and it didn't ruin ITG. Not everybody who is serious about their scores is competitive and not everyone who is competitive is trying to be the best. Look at VJ Army. Some people are wicked serious about their crappy C's. And I think that's awesome! Some people set modest goals like "I want to be 60th percentile!" or "I want to clear all the level <x> songs." DDR is so sandbox it makes GTA look like Final Fantasy. And we need something to do. Playing without goals gets boring really fast.

Don't forget the real feature of e-amuse. People talk about the scores and unlocks all the time but that's not the real point of the service. Konami could've done scores and unlocks with a USB stick. The point of e-amuse is to build a community and keep people interested in the game that way. Aoichan is right. Online communities are future of all games. I don't want to be the best DDR player in Massachusetts, and I sort of don't care who that person is, but it would be very cool to see something like "JOE________ 999,750 AAA" every time I pick Soul Crash. And that's not even playing the game online.

k... I didn't read all the replies, but I think, according of what I read, that it would've been better, if they got the game with the same unlock system as DDR Extreme, and aditionaly ADDING a score track system with cards (nothing to do with internet and stuff), like ummm Max tune, tekken 5 or initial D?

I know a lot of people that agree with that...lol

lol is not like that... is like the same that they did, but without onlining stuff... unlocks like the extreme and the card system... if you want to upload your scores to the internet, we never had problems taking pictures to our AAAs, and uploading them to multiple sites... I never had a problem with that... However, most of the people that plays, don't care about scores either... there are a lot of people that plays, without knowing that you need to hit perfect to get higher socres, and there are a lot of people that use the game as a cardio exercise...

Is like fun the way eAmusement work, right? but there are a lot of trouble with it... and that's unnecesary ;)

What would you need online for? So it automatically uploads your scores for you? :P If they make a decent memory card system, that would be great. But it's a lot easier, less expensive (for them and us) if we just use a 10 USB drive, all the unlocks could be stored in encrypted XML data, so when we go to play on another machine, it could look at it, then allow us to play the songs. It could also be like, unlock a song for playing on X number of machines. :P
